E: SÜFFA stands for „Südliche Fleischer Fachausstellung“, Southern Butcher Exhibition. It takes place once a year in late summer/autumn in Stuttgart. In contrast to the IFFA in Frankfurt am Main (IFFA stands for International Butcher Exhibition), the smaller Stuttgart trade fair is designed more for smaller craft businesses. The Frankfurt trade fair is more like a large-scale technology exhibition.
D: SÜFFA steht für Südliche Fleischer Fachausstellung. Sie findet einmal im Jahr im Spätsommer/Herbst in Stuttgart statt. Im Gegensatz zur IFFA in Frankfurt am Main (IFFA steht für Internationale Fleischer Fachausstellung) ist die kleinere Stuttgarter Messe mehr auf kleinere Handwerksbetriebe ausgelegt. Die Frankfurter Messe ähnelt eher einer Großtechnikausstellung.
E: What always comes up is vegan. During a tasting we were able to try some rubber balls that didn’t taste anything like meat in terms of taste or mouthfeel. The spiced ketchup served with it didn’t change that. A few months ago I had to give up dairy products for a few days, so I found a vegan substitute. My speech back then: If meat substitutes taste just as good as the vegan sweets, I’ll switch immediately. Unfortunately, we are still a long way from that.
D: Was immer wieder aufs Tapet kommt, ist vegan. Wir durften bei einer Verkostung irgendwelche Gummibälle probieren, die weder vom Geschmack noch vom Mundgefühl annähernd nach Fleisch geschmeckt haben. Daran änderte auch der dazu gereichte Gewürzketchup nichts. Ich hab vor einigen Monaten mal für ein paar Tage auf Milchprodukte verzichten müssen, also gabs veganen Ersatz. Meine Rede damals: Wenn Fleischersatz genau so gut schmeckt, wie der vegane Süßkram, steig ich sofort um. Leider sind wir da noch weit weg davon.
